Calamitous in defence and sterile in attack. 2023 got off to a miserable start for the Reds as they were deservedly beaten by Brentford and missed the chance to leapfrog Spurs in the race for a top four spot.

It was far from convincing but it's three more points. The Reds gave away yet another early goal and needed a helping hand from Leicester defender Wout Faes who chipped in with two own goals to secure the points for Kloppo's boys.

A double from Darwin and a header from the impressive Bobby Firmino ensured the Reds went into the World Cup break on a winning note. The first half was excellent, the second half not so much but the three points are most welcome.

Penalty shootout king Caoimhin Kelleher came to the Reds rescue again with three spot kick saves to ensure Jurgen Klopp's much changed side squeaked through to the next round of the Carabao Cup after the 90 minutes ended goalless.

Two lovely finishes from Mo and a dogged second half defensive display saw the Reds bounce back from successive Premier League defeats to pick up a much needed win at a weakened Spurs.

Paul Natton and John Gallagher join TLW Editor Dave Usher to pick through the bones of a weird performance by Kloppo's boys in which they looked like they might run away with it but then ended up hanging on grimly after a sloppy second half showing.

The lads also look ahead to the midweek cup clash with Derby County and discuss what kind of team they expect to see.

Liverpool 2 Napoli 0 - Match Reaction

Another goal for Darwin, another record for Mo and a good solid 2-0 win for the Reds to avenge their defeat in the opening match of the group.

TLW Editor Dave Usher is joined by Julian Richards and Terry McDonald for a long and meandering chat that didn't really focus a great deal on what was a fairly low key, one might even say dull game overall. While the main talking points are covered, a whole lot of tangents were also taken with topics ranging from crooked NBA refs to Conor Coady not understanding how to use apostrophes. This one's a bit of a roller coaster!
