Paris - What Really Happened

This one isn’t about football; it’s about setting the record straight. We’ve spoken to TLW contributors and members about their experiences at the Champions League final in Paris.

The travelling reds were victims of the woefully inept organisation, subject to barbaric treatment from the French police, left vulnerable to gangs attacks, and were immediately blamed by the authorities. Here’s what people on the ground saw and experienced.

Champions League Final Match Reaction

So near and yet so far. Having seen hopes of the Quadruple dashed a week earlier, the Reds missed out on the Treble too after being rope-a-doped by Carlo Ancelotti's Real Madrid in Paris.

The bigger story on the night of course was the disgraceful treatment of supporters before and after the game and we'll have a special pod dedicated to that this week, but for this one we're just covering the game itself. What went wrong and where do we need to improve to go one better next year?

Champions League Final Preview

The double winning Reds are looking to make it a treble as they bod for a seventh European Cup this weekend in Paris. Standing in the way are a familiar foe.

The last time the sides met in Paris it ended with Alan Kennedy securing number three. Four years ago in Kyiv it was Real who emerged victorious. To discuss who will triumph this time, Chris Smith is joined by Julian Richards and TLW Editor Dave Usher.

Liverpool 3 Wolves 1 - Match Reaction

It was so close at one point we could almost touch it but the quadruple is finally out of reach despite the lads taking care of business with a hard fought win against a determined Wolves side.

Southampton 1 Liverpool 2 - Match Reaction

Nine changes, all the stars missing but you'd never know as the Reds produced an impressive performance to see off the Saints and ensure the title race will go right down to the final day. What a team.

FA Cup Final Match Reaction

As usual we did it the hard way but just like in the Carabao Cup Final the Reds found a way to get the job done and bring home the silverware.

The double is secured, the treble is still on and the quadruple is... well, let's not be too greedy eh?

Aston Villa 1 Liverpool 2 - Match Reaction

Sadio sunk Villa with a second half header once again to keep the pressure on City at the top of the table.

The Reds weren't at their best but the 'mentality monsters' found a way to get over the line and responded well after going behind early.

Liverpool 1 Tottenham 1 - Match Reaction

Luis Diaz was on the scoresheet once again but the Reds were held to a frustrating draw by a dogged and dangerous Tottenham side.

The lads then preview the midweek trip to Aston Villa and look back on Real Madrid's dramatic win over Man City that set up a clash with Kloppo's boys in Paris later this month.

Paris here we come! After being given an almighty scare the Reds advanced to the final by finally overcoming a spirited Villarreal side who had wiped out their first leg deficit before eventually succumbing to a Luis Diaz inspired Liverpool.

Newcastle United 0 Liverpool 1 - Match Reaction

The Reds won again as a solitary Naby Keita goal was enough to see off Newcastle in a game completed dominated by Liverpool. 

TLW Editor Dave Usher is joined by Julian Richards and Paul Natton to look back on another impressive display in which Klopp rang the changes and saw the players who came in deliver star performances.
